IDF Kills Hamas Commander in Gaza Linked to October 7 Infiltration and Hostage Taking
The Israel Defense Forces eliminated Hamas militant Bassam Muhammad Mushtaha in northern Gaza on July 30. According to the IDF spokesperson, Mushtaha was a platoon commander in Hamas's military wing, the Shati Battalion. He infiltrated Israeli territory on October 7 during the outbreak of hostilities. Throughout the conflict, he was involved in holding numerous Israeli hostages, including Ziv Berman, Omri Miran, Uri Magidish, Naama Levy, Matan Angrist, Tzachi Idan (deceased), and Corporal Noa Marzano (deceased).
