IDF Confirms Killing of Hamas Platoon Commander Holding Israeli Hostages
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed on Friday the killing of Muhammad Bassam Muhammad Mushtaha, a platoon commander in Hamas's Shati Brigade, who was involved in the October 7 massacre and the captivity of numerous Israeli hostages. Mushtaha was targeted in an airstrike in northern Gaza about two weeks ago. According to the IDF, he infiltrated Israeli territory during the October 7 attack and subsequently participated in holding several kidnapped Israelis in Gaza, including Tzachi Idan and the late Corporal Noa Marzano. Other hostages linked to Mushtaha's captivity include Ziv Berman, Omri Miran, Uri Magidish, Naama Levy, and Matan Angrist. The IDF also stated that Mushtaha recently attempted to orchestrate terrorist attacks against Israeli soldiers and civilians. His elimination was aimed at neutralizing this threat. The IDF Southern Command forces remain deployed in the area under current agreements and will continue operations to remove any immediate dangers, the military said.
