Rav Yehoshua Eichstein Appeals for Immediate Help for Bride Hours Before Her Wedding
An urgent and heartbreaking appeal is coming from the home of Rabbi Yehoshua Eichstein, head of the Yad Aharon yeshiva, for the immediate rescue of a young bride whose financial situation is defined as critical. Tonight, the bride will be brought to her chuppah completely alone and without even minimal family support. This is a shocking reality of a girl described as having been left alone in her parents’ lifetimes, and now standing at a dead end moments before setting up her home. The debts are unbearable, and the situation on the ground is tense and terrible. People familiar with the details warn that if the public does not now step in to help her out of mutual responsibility, the wedding will not be able to take place properly, in the accepted manner. Rav Yehoshua Eichstein, who learned the details of the severe distress, already went out of his way several weeks ago with an unusual appeal and laid out the bride’s immense pain. In his remarks, Rav Yehoshua shared his personal testimony: "There is a very tragic case, in fact she is an orphan while both parents are alive. She has no mother and no father. And normally, without a home, without anything." This description reflects the poverty and loneliness in which she finds herself, with no support in the world. Despite years of suffering and the absence of family, by the grace of God she was able to build her home. Rav Yehoshua testifies to this and describes the immediate difficulty: "Now, thank God, a normal match was made, a normal young man, but she needs arrangements." But the real distress has now surfaced, as she begins her life and there is no one who can bear the basic expenses of the wedding and setting up the home. Every shekel is missing, and the urgency is absolute. Today, only hours before the wedding, Rav Yehoshua is again crying out and declares: "The wedding is in a few hours, this is the responsibility of all of Israel, we cannot ignore it. This is critical!" In light of the pressing situation, a special fund was opened, number 5781, within Kupat Ha'ir. Rav Yehoshua appeals to every Jew to take part in the rescue effort, and offers a rare blessing to those who join the campaign: "Here, all of Israel took responsibility to ensure that this girl enters the chuppah and kiddushin like every Jewish girl. So whoever donates here is fulfilling a very great mitzvah, an orphan on both sides, as if doubly orphaned. So the merit is very great. And this is the responsibility of all of Israel."
