Rabbi Yitzchak Zilberstein Breaks Down at Funeral of Rabbi Elyashiv’s Daughter-in-Law in Bnei Brak
Thousands attended the funeral on Wednesday in Bnei Brak of Sarah Rachel Israelzon, the righteous rebbetzin and widow of Rabbi Yosef Israelzon, as well as daughter of the late Rabbi Yosef Shalom Elyashiv. Before the funeral procession departed from her home, prominent rabbis including Rabbi Yitzchak Zilberstein, Rabbi Aharon Otterbach, and Rabbi Baruch Reimer bid farewell to her.
In his eulogy, Rabbi Zilberstein emotionally recalled a statement from Rabbi Elyashiv when he was alive in Bnei Brak, saying, "I want to be with Sarah, I want to be at Sarah’s home." Despite many offers from others, Rabbi Elyashiv insisted on staying with her. Rabbi Zilberstein said, "Now he is with her in heaven, just as he wished to be with her on earth."
He concluded by urging the community to seek mercy and blessings through Rabbi Elyashiv’s merit, who is now "with Sarah in heaven," and prayed for the Israelzon family to flourish spiritually. Rabbi Zilberstein broke down in tears, emphasizing the need for divine compassion for the entire Jewish people during this time of mourning.
The funeral was marked by deep grief and reverence for the rebbetzin’s legacy and her connection to one of Israel’s foremost Torah leaders, Rabbi Elyashiv.
