Rabbanit Sarah Rachel Israelzon, widow of Rabbi Yosef Israel Israelzon and granddaughter of Rabbi Aryeh Levin, known as the 'Rabbi of the Prisoners,' passed away at the age of 93. She died on Wednesday night at Maayanei Hayeshua Hospital in Bnei Brak after her health deteriorated over the past week following a collapse.
Rabbanit Israelzon was a respected figure in the Haredi community, being the daughter of Rabbi Yosef Shalom Elyashiv and granddaughter of Rabbi Aryeh Levin. She married Rabbi Yosef Israel Israelzon, who served as head of the Bar Shaul kollel in Rehovot and authored the halachic series "Kitzur Hilchot."
Her funeral procession began at 1:00 PM from her home on Chazon Ish Street 5 in Bnei Brak and proceeded to the Ponovezh Yeshiva cemetery in the city, where she was laid to rest.
