Maccabi Haifa’s next striker signing depends on selling Trivante Stewart
Maccabi Haifa have decided in principle to part ways with striker Trivante Stewart, and any move for a replacement foreign forward now hinges on selling the Jamaican. Although he delivered useful numbers in his first season, the club wants a striker who fits its style and “DNA” more closely.
Stewart scored 11 goals, including three penalties, but also collected two unnecessary red cards and is viewed internally as a player who commits too many fouls during his minutes on the pitch. In January, several clubs showed interest, but Haifa chose not to sell him at the time.
He is now officially on the market, and the club wants to recover most of its investment, which includes 1.5 million euros paid in transfer fee to Radnički and about 350,000 euros in salary. Interest remains from other teams, but Haifa are holding out for a deal they consider worthwhile so they can fund another foreign striker.
Club officials believe Stewart has the highest sales potential among the foreign players expected to leave. They do not want to accept just any offer, but they expect he will ultimately be sold. For now, he is due to start preseason training with Maccabi Haifa next week and wait for developments.
