IDF Chief Visits Southern Syria, Vows to Prevent Hostile Forces Near Israeli Borders
Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir conducted a visit and tour in southern Syria on Wednesday alongside Northern Command Chief Major General Rafi Milo, Division 210 Commander Brigadier General Yair Paley, and Brigade 474 Commander Colonel Y. During the visit, Zamir met with reservist soldiers operating in the area.
Zamir emphasized the IDF's vigilance regarding developments on the Syrian front, stating, "We see what is happening and are monitoring changes on the Syrian front - we must prepare accordingly." He stressed that Israel will not allow hostile forces to establish themselves along its borders and will apply precise military force when necessary. The Chief of Staff highlighted the need to prevent the emergence of terrorist threats and significant military dangers near Israel's borders.
He noted that the IDF has established a forward defense zone serving as a buffer near Israeli communities where forces are active. Zamir also reminded that Israel remains engaged in a multi-front conflict requiring constant readiness. Addressing the reservists, who have collectively served hundreds of days since the start of hostilities, he thanked them for their service and acknowledged ongoing efforts to ease the burden on them and their families.
