IDF Investigation Finds 6 of 15 Gaza Medical and UN Worker Deaths Linked to Hamas
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) released an investigation into the deaths of 15 Palestinians, including medical personnel and a UN worker, in the Tel al-Sultan area of Gaza last March. On the day of the incident, the IDF had planned a raid in the area and positioned a force to ambush Hamas operatives. The force fired at a vehicle identified as belonging to the terrorist organization Hamas. Approximately an hour later, the force was alerted to five vehicles rapidly approaching their position. When the occupants stopped very close to the force and quickly unloaded, the soldiers decided to open fire. Subsequently, the force also fired at an additional vehicle.
The investigation later revealed that the first two vehicles hit were a fire truck and an ambulance, while the third vehicle was a Palestinian UN vehicle. The inquiry determined that six of the 15 fatalities were affiliated with Hamas. The Military Police Investigations Unit (Metzah) will continue its investigation into the incident.
