IDF Investigates January Gaza Shooting That Killed Nine Including Child Hind Rajab
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) released an investigation into a January 2024 shooting in Gaza that resulted in the deaths of nine people, including the child Hind Rajab. According to the report, IDF forces fired on a vehicle belonging to the Hamada family, which was traveling against the evacuation route announced to residents. Five passengers in the vehicle were killed, while Hind Rajab and her cousin Lian survived the initial attack. The two then contacted rescue services and coordinated an evacuation via a Red Crescent ambulance. Upon the ambulance's arrival, it was reportedly hit by a shell, killing two paramedics. Days later, the bodies of the paramedics and seven family members, including Hind and Lian, were recovered from the vehicle. The IDF stated that after reviewing the findings and noting apparent failures in coordinating the Red Crescent ambulance's movement, it decided to continue investigating the incident through a Military Police Criminal Investigation Division inquiry.
