Israeli Man Arrested for Infiltrating Malware into Dozens of Companies
An Ashkelon resident was arrested Tuesday morning on suspicion of injecting malware into dozens of Israeli companies to collect computer data and sensitive information. The arrest followed a covert investigation by the Cyber Unit of Lahav 433, which worked to identify the suspect through complex analytical efforts. After uncovering his identity, investigators moved to the open phase of the inquiry early Tuesday, detaining the suspect and conducting searches at his home and several companies.
The suspect is being questioned under caution for offenses including computer crimes, wiretapping, privacy violations, and other charges. Following his interrogation, he was brought before the Magistrate's Court in Rishon Lezion, where his detention was extended until August 23. At the defense attorney's request, the court prohibited publishing the suspect's name. The investigation continues under the supervision of the State Attorney's Cyber Department.
