Ashkelon Resident Arrested for Malware Attack on Dozens of Israeli Companies
Cyber investigators from the Lahav 433 unit arrested a resident of Ashkelon on suspicion of infiltrating malware into the computer systems of dozens of Israeli companies. The suspect allegedly installed malicious software, collecting sensitive data and information from multiple businesses across Israel's economy. During a covert investigation, authorities tracked the suspect's identity and moved to an overt phase early Tuesday morning, conducting searches at his home and several company offices.
The suspect was interrogated under caution for offenses including computer crimes, wiretapping, privacy violations, and other related charges. Following the investigation, he was brought before the Rishon Lezion Magistrate's Court, where his detention was extended until August 23, 2026. His name remains under gag order at this stage. The case is being handled by the Cyber Department of the State Prosecutor's Office.
