Israeli Cyber Unit Arrests Ashkelon Resident for Malware Attack on Multiple Companies

The cyber unit of Lahav 433 arrested a resident of Ashkelon on Tuesday morning on suspicion of deploying malware into dozens of Israeli companies and extracting sensitive information from their computer systems. Following a covert investigation and complex analytical work, the suspect was identified and taken into custody. His name has been withheld at the request of his defense attorney. The suspect was interrogated under caution for alleged offenses including computer crimes, illegal wiretapping, privacy violations, and other related charges. The Magistrate's Court in Rishon Lezion extended his detention until August 23. Police also conducted searches at his residence and several companies. The case is being handled by the Cyber Department of the State Attorney's Office.
