Illegal Worker Arrested for Indecent Acts on Woman in Jaffa Apartment
On January 17, 2026, a 32-year-old illegal resident from the Palestinian territories was arrested on suspicion of committing indecent acts against a 26-year-old woman in her home in Jaffa. The woman woke up in the morning to find the man performing the acts and screamed, prompting the suspect to flee. The suspect, who worked as a construction laborer in the building where the woman lives and occasionally entered her apartment for electrical work, was later found hiding at a construction site and taken into custody. He was brought to Tel Aviv Magistrate’s Court for an extension of his detention.
In a related note, the Police Investigations Department recently questioned a police officer suspected of sexually harassing and committing an indecent act against a woman who came to file a complaint at a police station. The officer was released with restrictions, including a ban on contact with the involved parties for 11 days, while the investigation continues.
Additionally, the Police Investigations Department filed charges against a 29-year-old former Border Police combatant from Jerusalem for multiple sexual harassment offenses against a minor under 14. The indictment alleges that about two years ago, the accused initiated explicit sexual conversations with the minor via Instagram, fully aware of the minor’s age. The case is being prosecuted by attorney Hila Cohen from the Police Investigations Department’s Jerusalem team.
