22-Year-Old Woman Seriously Wounded in Jaffa Shooting, Police Suspect Criminal Motive

A 22-year-old woman was seriously wounded on Monday in a shooting on David Razi'el Street in Jaffa. Magen David Adom medics and paramedics were called to the scene, gave her first aid, and evacuated her to Wolfson Medical Center conscious but in serious condition with gunshot wounds to her body.

MDA paramedics Omri Gil and Amir Reizman, יחד with MDA medic Aybek Hamuda, said they found her conscious with severe gunshot injuries and provided lifesaving treatment that included stopping bleeding and applying a tourniquet before taking her to hospital. Police said officers from the Jaffa station were at the scene, began investigating, and collected evidence after opening a case.

According to police, the incident is believed to have a criminal background, and the circumstances are still being examined. The report comes shortly after another violent case in the area, the death of 35-year-old Lia Malka Cohen, who was killed about a week and a half ago when a car bomb exploded on Highway 20 near the Holon Interchange.

Cohen, a mother to a two-year-old girl, was killed in the blast, prompting an investigation and public grief from her family, who demanded that those responsible be brought to justice. Her cousin Tom Nissini later posted a personal tribute and made serious allegations against her estranged husband, though the report stresses those claims are only the family’s allegations and the investigation is still ongoing.
