R' Itzi Ackerman Releases 'You Are Special' Inspired by Yeshiva Moment
Musician R' Itzi Ackerman has released a new single, “You Are Special,” inspired by a moment at Yeshivat Be'er Yitzchak, where he was invited to play and heard the students singing during a break. The simple, moving words, which felt to him like a personal letter from God, became the basis for the song.
The lyrics were written by Shimi Zilber and are meant to speak to the daily struggles people face. According to the release, the song responds to the way negative impulses can drag people down, blame them, and weaken their self-worth, while offering a reminder that despite ups and downs, “the Holy One, blessed be He, is proud of us.”
Ackerman said the line “There are myriads of angels, but only one like you” is a message that can strengthen any Jew. He added that the production took nearly six months, during Operation “Roar of the Lion,” and faced many delays and disappointments.
“It is finally out,” he said, thanking everyone who helped along the way and saying he held on with simple faith that everything comes from Heaven.
