Singer Orit Izak Launches Original Melody for Traditional Shabbat Piyyut

Orit Izak, singer and co-founder of the band "Achoti," has released "Tzur Mishlo," an original melody set to a well-known Shabbat piyyut, marking the official start of her solo career. Izak composed the tune herself, with musical production by Moshik Landau. The song was inspired by reflections on the Shabbat table and feelings of belonging and loneliness, particularly among young people searching for companionship. Izak explained that the recurring question "Where are you on Shabbat?" resonates with many, and the melody aims to provide strength and a sense of connection even when answers are difficult.

Previously a lead vocalist and founding member of "Achoti," a pioneering female singing group in the Religious Zionist community, Izak is now pursuing a solo path with original and personal material. Her goal is to reach a broad and diverse audience through her new work.
