Iranian Parliament Speaker Links Any Ceasefire to Israeli Withdrawal from Lebanon
Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf commented Sunday evening on the Israeli strike in Beirut’s Dahieh district and drew a sharp parallel between Lebanon and Iran. In his remarks, he argued that any ceasefire must include the preservation of Lebanon’s territorial sovereignty.
Ghalibaf also implied that such a deal should require Israel to withdraw from Lebanon. The comments came in response to the Israeli attack and framed the conflict in terms of Lebanese sovereignty and regional confrontation.
