Iranian Parliament Speaker Proudly Admits Direct Ties with Hezbollah Fighters in Lebanon

Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, openly acknowledged his direct and longstanding involvement with Hezbollah militants fighting in Lebanon. Speaking at a meeting with Iranian intellectuals on August 15, 2026, Ghalibaf revealed that he has been engaged with Lebanese affairs since 1985 and maintains close relationships with Hezbollah fighters on the front lines. This admission comes despite repeated Lebanese demands to sever Iran's connections with the terrorist organization.

Ghalibaf also addressed international pressures on Tehran, noting that the United States has demanded Iran abandon its nuclear and missile programs, relinquish its "resistance front," and give up control over the Strait of Hormuz. He described these demands as part of a preliminary 15-point draft agreement. The remarks were reported by Iranian news agencies Tasnim and Mehr amid ongoing clashes in the Ali Taher area of Lebanon.

The disclosure highlights Iran's deep involvement in Lebanon through Hezbollah, underscoring Tehran's defiance of international calls to cut ties with the group. The situation remains tense as fighting continues in southern Lebanon, with Hezbollah maintaining its positions against Israeli forces.
