Israeli Cyber Directorate Warns WhatsApp Message About 'Iranian Attack' Is Fake
The National Cyber Directorate said it is warning the public about a false message spreading on WhatsApp in recent hours. The message claims there was a radio warning about SMS messages urging users to update the Home Front Command app, and presents this as an "Iranian cyber attack."
The directorate stressed that the message is not an official alert and that sharing it could create unnecessary panic. It urged the public not to forward unverified messages and to ignore claims that are not issued through official channels.
The guidance also said apps should be updated only through the official app stores, and that people should not click on update links sent by SMS or WhatsApp. Suspicious links can be reported to hotline 119.
