Israel Conducts Intense Strikes in Southern Lebanon Following Drone Attack on IDF Commandos

On the night between Saturday and Sunday, Lebanon experienced a wave of powerful strikes in the Ali Taher mountain range in the south, with numerous explosions and smoke plumes reported across the skies. These attacks followed an earlier incident where an explosive drone targeted an Israeli commando force in the same area, injuring three soldiers. In response, the Israeli military launched a significant counterattack, including the killing of a battalion commander in the Lebanese Redwan force.

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) had warned northern Israeli residents to expect explosions overnight as part of heightened security preparations involving airstrikes and heavy artillery fire in Lebanon. This escalation comes amid a series of incidents that have intensified tensions along the Israel-Lebanon border.

Separately, Qatar denied holding any Iranian pilots alive after reports suggested otherwise. The Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesman stated that search and rescue teams found remains of one pilot and that Qatar has contacted Iran to coordinate the transfer, though Tehran has yet to respond.

Additionally, the IDF assessed that a recent explosion in Gaza was caused by an old explosive device rather than a newly planted one by Hamas along the border. These developments highlight ongoing security challenges in the region as Israel continues to respond to threats from Lebanon and Gaza.
