Maccabi Netanya Sets 2 Million Euro Price for Midfielder Basem Za'arura Amid Be'er Sheva Interest

Maccabi Netanya is aware of growing interest from Hapoel Be'er Sheva in their 23-year-old midfielder Basem Za'arura, who is under contract for two more years. The reigning champions want to strengthen their squad ahead of upcoming Champions League playoff matches against Sabah and see Za'arura as a key addition. However, Netanya has set a significant asking price of 2 million euros for the player, aiming for a substantial transfer fee.

Za'arura has been in excellent form, scoring nine goals in his last 18 appearances for Netanya, where he has become an important player over the past season. He was originally signed by Netanya from Maccabi Haifa three seasons ago for 900,000 shekels, with coach Ran Kozuch, now at Be'er Sheva, having been instrumental in bringing him to the club. Za'arura spent the 2024/2025 season on loan at Ironi Tiberias and was previously loaned from Maccabi Haifa to Hapoel Afula between 2021 and 2023. Before joining the Greens, he played in the youth systems of Ironi Nesher and Hapoel Haifa.

Netanya has a track record of selling homegrown talents for significant sums, including Daniel Dappa for 1.8 million euros and Joslin Tabi for 4 million euros last season, both under the management of Ross Kastin. Other notable sales include Eitan Azulai, Boris Ino, Omri Gandelman, Raz Shlomo, and Eden Kartsev, reflecting the club's strategy of developing and profiting from young players.
