Three Israeli Swimmers Advance to European Championships Semifinals

Three Israeli swimmers, Anastasia Gorbunko, Leah Polonsky, and Tom Minis, advanced to the semifinals at the European Swimming Championships. Gorbunko, representing Maccabi Kiryat Bialik, qualified first in the 200m individual medley heats with a time of 2:11.87, leading her heat from start to finish. Polonsky from Maccabi Haifa also reached the semifinals in the same event, finishing eighth overall with a time of 2:13.43. Both swimmers are set to compete in the semifinals on Friday evening starting at 20:35.

Tom Minis, also from Maccabi Haifa, qualified for the 100m backstroke semifinals with a personal best time of 1:01.19, placing 16th overall. Minis will swim in the semifinals at 19:50. Another Israeli swimmer, Aviv Barzilai from Maccabi Haifa, finished 24th in the same event and did not advance.

Additional Israeli competitors included Daria Golovaty from Hapoel Bat Yam, who placed 38th in the 50m freestyle heats with a time of 25.94 seconds, and Mark Teller from Maccabi Marom Ramat Gan, who finished 39th in the 50m breaststroke heats with a time of 27.90 seconds. These results highlight the strong presence of Israeli swimmers at the continental competition.
