The final episode of 'Project 0,' a national initiative by Kikar HaShabbat, revealed the cutting-edge drone technology used by United Hatzalah to save lives during critical rescue operations. Field reporter Moshe Mens met with Yossi Amar, commander of the drone unit, who showcased the "Flycart 100" drone, a powerful aerial vehicle equipped with a 100-meter winch capable of delivering stretchers, heavy rescue equipment, and medical supplies directly to difficult terrains without landing, significantly reducing rescue times.
The episode highlighted dramatic rescue cases from the summer, including a snowy night in Meron where a grandmother and her grandchildren were trapped on a frozen rock ledge. The drone located them using artificial intelligence, provided lighting and hypothermia blankets, and allowed rescuers to communicate with them until help arrived. Another case involved locating a missing four-year-old boy in the desert, where aerial scanning and terrain mapping ensured his safe recovery.
The unit also employs advanced AI algorithms and polygon mapping to divide large search areas into precise sectors, enabling rapid location of missing persons. Their operations maintain full satellite communication independence, allowing continuous contact even in remote areas without cellular coverage. Coordination with police helicopters and elite rescue units ensures safe airspace management during missions.
