Arava Rescue Unit Warns of Flash Flood Risks in Eastern Israel Over Weekend Rain

The Arava Rescue Unit has issued a warning about potential flash floods in streams across eastern Israel due to heavy rains expected over the weekend. The affected areas include the Golan Heights, the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, the Judean Desert, and northern Arava. In the Arava region, from Nahal David/Arugot to the Sodom area, most rainfall is anticipated on Saturday between 12:00 and 18:00.

The rescue unit is preparing for possible flooding in the Jordan Valley, Judean Desert, and southern Dead Sea areas. They urged hikers and drivers in these regions to exercise caution due to the risk of being swept away by floodwaters. The unit emphasized that under no circumstances should anyone enter a flowing stream, even if water is flowing over roads and crossing seems possible. They advised waiting for water levels to drop and flow to slow before attempting to cross.
