Israeli Journalist Yinon Magal Helps Install Mezuzah in Colleague's New Home
Israeli journalist Yinon Magal, known for hosting the show "The Patriots," assisted fellow journalist David Verthaim in affixing a mezuzah at Verthaim's new residence. Verthaim humorously shared the experience on his X (formerly Twitter) account, noting that he sought help after receiving confusing instructions from the rabbinate and joking that next time he would rely on a ratings website instead. In a video posted by Verthaim, Magal is seen blessing the mezuzah while Verthaim asks if he should say "Amen," to which Magal replies affirmatively.
This lighthearted event follows a recent trend among Israeli media personalities engaging in the mitzvah of mezuzah placement. Notably, panelist Irit Linor recently installed eight new mezuzahs at her home with the help of Yaki Admakar, who launched a national campaign called "Mezuzah Operation" to assist Jews across Israel in fulfilling this religious commandment. Admakar's initiative gained attention after he installed a mezuzah at the home of Guy Maroz, who was filmed wearing a bicycle helmet instead of a kippah.
Verthaim concluded his post with a joke about bringing Admakar for future installations, and Magal responded by advising him to check the mezuzahs carefully. The story highlights a blend of tradition and modern media personalities engaging with Jewish customs in a public and humorous way.
