Family Honors Fallen Soldier Amichai Ben David with Mezuzah in Kedem Settlement

Evyatar Bartal, a resident of Rehalim and alumnus of Ma'ale Eliyahu Yeshiva, affixed a mezuzah in his new home in the Kedem settlement in northern Samaria. The mezuzah was crafted by Ayelet, sister of the late Amichai Ben David, who was killed in combat. Ayelet created the mezuzot to connect her brother's memory and his dream of establishing settlements in Israel with the pioneers of Kedem.

Alongside the mezuzot, Ayelet wrote a dedication to the Kedem pioneers, expressing that one of Amichai's dreams was the founding of a settlement in the Land of Israel, a dream now being realized by them. She wrote, "Dear pioneers of Kedem, my brother Amichai Ben David had many dreams. One of them is the dream you are fulfilling - to establish a settlement in the Land of Israel." She added that the mezuzot were made to symbolically open new gates for settlement and Torah study in the land, honoring her brother's memory and partnership in this dream.

Ayelet concluded her message with a biblical verse, "For your servants desired its stones and its dust they cherished," dedicating it to Amichai's good memory. Amichai had lived in Ba'alei, and Ayelet also prepared mezuzot for residents of Ganin, a branch of the high yeshiva in Ba'alei. Among the recipients was the Bartal family in Kedem, where the mezuzah was placed in their new home as a tribute to Amichai Ben David.
