Haifa Airport Builds 900-Space Parking Lot and Considers Direct Public Transit Line

The Israel Airports Authority is currently constructing a new parking lot with approximately 900 spaces on a 20-dunam area north of the passenger terminal at Haifa Airport. This development responds to a significant increase in passenger numbers and flights, expanding travel options for residents of Haifa and northern Israel. The new parking facility aims to alleviate growing congestion at the airport amid its recent surge in activity.

In collaboration with the Haifa Municipality, the Airports Authority is exploring additional solutions to improve passenger convenience, including the potential launch of a high-frequency public transportation line directly connecting the city of Haifa to the airport. Meanwhile, the authority has initiated an awareness campaign encouraging travelers to use public transit to reduce parking demand until the new facilities and services are fully operational.

This expansion coincides with Air Haifa's recent announcement of acquiring a fourth aircraft, with plans to add two more within the year, effectively doubling the airport's operational capacity. The new parking lot and transportation initiatives are part of broader efforts to upgrade infrastructure and provide northern residents with a convenient alternative to Ben Gurion Airport in central Israel.
