Israeli State Prosecutor Blocks Plea Deal for Jonathan Urich in Bild Case

The Israeli State Prosecutor firmly opposed a plea bargain proposal for Jonathan Urich in the Bild case, according to a report by Avishai Greenstein on Wednesday. Central District Prosecutor Haim Vismonsky had reached an agreement with Urich's defense attorney for a plea deal involving a nine-month community service sentence. This proposal was submitted for approval, with the Government Legal Advisor supporting the arrangement.

However, during a meeting with the State Prosecutor, he vetoed the deal, effectively halting the negotiations. The Government Legal Advisor chose not to insist further, citing that the case falls under the State Prosecutor's jurisdiction, leading to the collapse of the talks. At the same meeting, the State Prosecutor stated he would only accept a plea deal if Urich received a 12-month prison sentence, a condition Urich rejected.

Since then, no new negotiations have taken place. Both the Government Legal Advisor and the State Prosecutor denied the report, calling it entirely false.
