Hapoel Be'er Sheva Signs Maccabi Petah Tikva Goalkeeper Marco Wolf on a Three-Year Deal
Fresh Israeli champions Hapoel Be'er Sheva have nearly completed their goalkeeping plans for next season by signing Marco Wolf from Maccabi Petah Tikva. The club announced on Sunday that the 125-game veteran of Petah Tikva has joined on a three-year contract, after the two sides reached an agreement. Be'er Sheva will pay a transfer fee of 800,000 shekels.
Wolf is expected to earn about 160,000 euros per season in Be'er Sheva. After signing, he said, "I am very happy to join the club. I worked under Ran Kozuch and the staff before and I am happy to work with them again. I will do everything possible together with my new teammates to achieve the goals ahead of us."
The 36-year-old goalkeeper played 36 league matches last season in the National League, conceded 42 goals and kept nine clean sheets. His arrival also brings him back together with coach Ran Kozuch, with whom he previously worked.
Wolf's signing comes after Be'er Sheva also secured the future of veteran goalkeeper Ofir Marciano, who will enter his fourth season at the club after extending his contract. The coaching staff values Marciano's experience, especially with Champions League qualifying ahead. That leaves the future of Niv Eliasi uncertain, as his contract is worth an estimated 220,000 euros per year and the club is struggling to find a buyer willing to match that salary. A Greek club has shown interest, but has not agreed to his wage demands, creating a financial and sporting dilemma for the champions.
