Former Israeli UN Envoy Gilad Erdan Launches New Party 'Unity' in Bet Shemesh

On August 11, 2026, former Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations Gilad Erdan officially launched his new political party named "Unity" in Bet Shemesh. During the announcement, Erdan introduced the party's slogan as "True Right. True Conscription." He emphasized that the party's name reflects a commitment to collective responsibility and unity despite differing views, stating, "Unity is a call to all, a shared responsibility, our path and commitment."

Erdan criticized the current Likud representatives, saying they no longer represent their voters, and declared, "I chose the State of Israel." He positioned the new party as a home for right-wing voters who oppose draft evasion and reject left-wing politics.

Joining Erdan in the new party is former Bet Shemesh mayor and Knesset member Aliza Bloch, who officially announced her affiliation the same evening. Bloch, who had considered offers from the "Third Bloc," accepted the invitation from Erdan and his partner Yuli Edelstein, who will be second on the party list. Erdan had announced the party's formation and Edelstein's placement last week.
