Israeli Supreme Court Criticizes Movement for Quality Government, Rejects Ninth Request to Remove Yonatan Urich

The Israeli Supreme Court on Tuesday rejected the Movement for Quality Government's ninth petition seeking to remove Yonatan Urich from the Prime Minister's Office. The court also ordered the movement to pay 3,000 shekels in legal costs, split equally between Urich and the state respondents. The ruling was delivered by Deputy President Noam Sohlberg and Justices Alex Stein and Yechiel Kasher, who sharply criticized the movement's repeated and largely identical requests for interim orders filed since March 16. The judges described this pattern as causing "great difficulty" and deemed some requests unfounded.

The petition concerns allegations against Urich, but in a prior closed-door hearing, the court accepted clarifications from security officials and noted Urich's commitment not to access classified material in the Prime Minister's Office. Following the ruling, Urich responded humorously, stating he would donate the 3,000 shekels to a summer charity. The Movement for Quality Government has not yet commented on the decision.

This development underscores the court's intolerance for what it views as procedural abuse through repetitive filings and signals a pushback against prolonged legal challenges in politically sensitive cases.
