High Court Rejects Interim Relief Request in Petition Against Netanyahu Aides
Israel’s High Court of Justice, sitting as the Bagatz, on Sunday rejected a request for an interim or temporary injunction filed by the Movement for Quality Government in Israel in a petition against the prime minister and several other officials, including the head of the Shin Bet, the Prime Minister’s Office, the attorney general and the civil service commissioner. The request was directed against Yonatan Urich.
The panel consisted of Deputy President Justice Noam Sohlberg and Justices Alex Stein and Yechiel Kasher. The petition also names Elizer Feldstein, Yonatan Urich, Israel Einhorn and Itzik Barverman as respondents.
The judges said the request appeared to rely on an indictment, motions filed in a criminal case and judicial decisions from that same proceeding, which, according to the petitioner, showed a changed factual basis that justified immediate court intervention. But the court noted that the documents the petitioner relied on were not attached to the request, and even the relevant case number was not provided.
In its ruling, the court said the references submitted were based mainly on news reports about the matter. In those circumstances, it found that the request did not establish the claims made in it, and therefore denied the petitioner's request.
