Hasidic Singers Release Emotional Song 'Beshuv Hashem' Honoring Late Friend and Yearning for Redemption
The Hasidic music group HaChavrusa, together with singer Shmulik Frank, have released a new single titled 'Beshuv Hashem' ('When God Returns'), a deeply emotional song born from personal loss and national hope. The melody was composed by Moishele Schneider in memory of his close friend David Nissim ben Rahamim Amrusi, who passed away from a severe illness. Schneider recounts being by David's side when he was told he had only weeks to live, noting David's acceptance and faith, saying, "If this is God's will, who am I to argue?" Shortly before his death, David heard the song performed by Schneider and Frank and remarked, "These lives are truly just a dream, a good dream from the Blessed God."
The song's central theme draws from the biblical verse "When the Lord returns the captivity of Zion, we will be like dreamers," expressing the Jewish people's nearly two-thousand-year longing to return to Zion, Jerusalem, and the rebuilt Temple. Schneider explains that when this return happens, it will be so magnificent that it will still feel like a dream. The performance features David Toib from HaChavrusa and guest artist Shmulik Frank, whose combined vocals create a rich and moving experience. Toib also arranged and produced the music, blending traditional elements with contemporary sounds, playing piano, bass, and programming, while Schneider performs the piano intro and solo.
The production team includes top musicians such as Alon Yoffe on drums, Avi Singolda on guitars, and the Kehil choir led by Shloimy Stein and others. The mixing and mastering were done by Roli Azraki, ensuring high production quality, and the single's graphic design was created by Graphic Nadav. Schneider dedicates the song as a merit for David Nissim's soul, hoping it will hasten the ultimate redemption. The song carries a dual message: a personal tribute to a man who embraced his fate with love, and a collective yearning for national redemption and the rebuilding of the Temple, sung with deep longing and hope for the Divine presence to be revealed soon.
