Rabbi Nissiel Dvir and Friends Release New Song 'Shesh Anochi' for High Holy Days
Rabbi Nissiel Dvir and his colleagues from Yeshivat Avinoam have released a new song titled "Shesh Anochi" ahead of the High Holy Days. The song focuses on themes related to the month of Elul, the sounding of the shofar, the covenant of circumcision, and the aspiration to perform every commandment with joy and gladness.
Rabbi Dvir explains that the song draws inspiration from writings of Rabbi Kook in "Midbar Shur," particularly a passage that strengthens the spirit before the shofar blowing. This passage discusses the prayer "Eruv Avdecha L'tov" and questions how God seals the covenant with His people. The answer is found in the verse "Shesh Anochi Al Imratecha Kemozeh Shalal Rav," which Rabbi Kook interprets as joy in serving God being sufficient to fulfill the covenant.
The song aims to express the central role of joy in divine service and the fulfillment of mitzvot. It is dedicated to Rabbi Dvir's late grandfather, Yoel Salutin, who was known for his love and joy in performing commandments. The performers include Rabbi Nissiel Dvir, Yuval Pinsky, Elchanan Yaish, and Yedidya Rabinowitz. Musical arrangement and production were handled by Ron Hania, who also played guitars, bass, and keyboards, with Yedidya Klein on clarinet and Amit Hania on drums.
Rabbi Dvir extends wishes for a good year to all of Israel through this musical offering.
