Israeli President Herzog Visits Defense R&D Unit Highlighting Technological Edge

Israeli President Isaac Herzog visited the Administration for the Development of Weapons and Technological Infrastructure (Maf'at) at the Ministry of Defense on Tuesday. The visit aimed to review key lessons from recent conflicts and showcase efforts to strengthen Israel's technological independence. Herzog received a comprehensive briefing from Maf'at head Dr. Danny Gold and other senior defense officials, focusing on insights gained from months of fighting and strategic moves to expand international defense collaborations.

During the visit, Herzog was introduced to cutting-edge technologies in intelligence systems, energy weapons, robotics, and neurotechnology. A notable innovation presented was a neurofeedback system designed to treat post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), currently being tested within the defense establishment to enhance soldiers' mental resilience. This system improves sensory and emotional regulation and is expected to aid thousands of soldiers coping with combat-related psychological effects.

Concluding the visit, Herzog praised Maf'at as Israel's premier national agency for weapons development, emphasizing its global reputation and role in maintaining Israel's military superiority. He expressed gratitude to Dr. Gold and his team, highlighting their dedication and the significance of their work for Israel and humanity. The visit coincided with a substantial investment by the Ministry of Defense, which has allocated approximately 1.5 billion shekels in the past two months for acquiring advanced defense systems. Additionally, the Iron Dome missile defense system recently underwent a major upgrade incorporating artificial intelligence to ensure Israel's continued air defense dominance against evolving threats.
