Young Family Leads New Settlement Establishment in Northern West Bank's Emek Dotan

Yinon Mena, a graduate of the pre-military Ba'alei Yeshiva and a discharged combat soldier from the Kfir Brigade, arrived with his wife Talor and their one-month-old daughter to establish their home in the newly founded Emek Dotan settlement in northern Samaria. The couple is among 22 families who recently began settling the area as part of a broader initiative by the Samaria Regional Council to strengthen Jewish presence in the region. Originally from Yavne and Rehovot, Yinon and Talor moved from the nearby settlement of Bruchin after marrying about a year and a half ago.

Yinon explained that their decision to join the settlement was driven by values instilled in him, including love for fellow Jews and the Land of Israel, and a desire to contribute to building the future. He described the move as a fulfillment of redemption and security, despite family concerns about relocating to an area without an existing Jewish community. The family started living in a caravan, viewing it as a starting point for growth, with hopes for many homes and children in the future.

The establishment of Emek Dotan is part of the "Hitchabrut Plan" promoted by the Samaria Regional Council, aiming to bolster security and bring one million Jews to Samaria. At the inauguration ceremony, Samaria Council head Yossi Dagan framed the settlement as correcting a historical injustice, referencing the uprooting of four northern Samaria settlements 21 years ago. He emphasized that instead of four, 19 new settlements will rise alongside existing ones, marking a significant Zionist and national achievement. Dagan thanked Defense Minister Israel Katz and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich for their efforts, as well as other supporters and the settlement division.

The council highlighted the arrival of the Mena family as emblematic of a young generation committed to actively building the land, combining military service, Torah study, family life, and settlement. The newborn daughter is among the first children to grow up in the new community, symbolizing its future vitality.
