IDF Strikes Hezbollah Site in Beirut’s Dahiya After Rocket Fire at Israel
The Israel Defense Forces said on Sunday it carried out a targeted strike on a Hezbollah infrastructure site in Beirut’s Dahiya district in response to fire launched by the group toward Israeli territory. An initial IDF statement said only that it had struck a Hezbollah “terror infrastructure” in Dahiya and that more details would follow.
In a joint statement, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz said the strike was carried out under their directive. They said the IDF had just hit Hezbollah terror targets in Beirut’s Dahiya, “in response to Hezbollah fire toward Israeli territory,” adding, “Israel will not tolerate fire on its territory.”
The strike comes amid heightened tension on the Lebanese front and as efforts continue to include Lebanon in emerging regional understandings. At this stage, no further details were released about the specific target or the results of the attack.
