Israeli ministers urge Netanyahu to strike Hezbollah in Beirut’s Dahieh after northern rocket fire
After alarms and impacts were reported near the Lebanon border, senior ministers in the Israeli government called for an immediate and forceful response against Hezbollah. The demand came as rockets were fired at northern communities, prompting renewed pressure to apply the “Dahieh doctrine” that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has previously described.
Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich said the attack was a “test of the Dahieh doctrine” and urged Netanyahu to implement it “with determination and force” by “bringing down buildings in Dahieh today.” He added that Israel was in “critical days” that would shape the security environment for years and said, “We promised security to the residents of the north and we must deliver.”
Aliyah and Integration Minister Ofir Sofer also called for an immediate strike in Lebanon. “Israel must attack in Dahieh,” he said, adding that “neither Shlomi nor any other community in Israel will become a normal target by Hezbollah.” The remarks came in response to the shelling and the falls detected close to the Lebanese border.
