Einav Tsangoker Accuses Yair Golan of Breaking Promise to Secure Her Top Spot in Democratic Party List

Einav Tsangoker, a prominent activist known for her role in the campaign to free her son Matan Tsangoker from captivity in Gaza, publicly accused Yair Golan, chairman of the Democratic Party, of reneging on a political agreement. Tsangoker revealed that Golan had promised her a secured, high-ranking position on the party's Knesset list, which led her to refrain from running in the party primaries held recently.

According to Tsangoker, the negotiations began early in 2026 at Golan's initiative. In February, as reports of a potential Knesset dissolution surfaced, Golan offered her a reserved spot immediately after the incumbent MKs. She accepted after careful consideration, and the agreement was repeatedly confirmed over several weeks, with instructions to keep the arrangement confidential and to reduce her public profile.

Tsangoker fulfilled her part by not participating in the primaries and maintaining secrecy. However, she claims that at the last moment, Golan reversed the commitment, leaving her sidelined. Despite her disappointment, she affirmed her intention to continue her public work outside the Knesset, pledging to repay her debt to Israeli society and to strive for a better future.

She concluded by urging voters to prevent the current government from erasing the memory of recent tragedies and failures, emphasizing the need to rebuild the state on principles of equality and justice. The Democratic Party has yet to respond officially to these unprecedented allegations.
