Democrats Chair Yair Golan Declines Reserved Spots for Einav Tsangoker on Party List

Yair Golan, chairman of the Israeli Democrats party, informed Einav Tsangoker that he decided not to allocate any reserved spots for her on the party's Knesset list. This announcement came about two weeks after the party's primaries on July 20, where over 86% of eligible voters, approximately 97,000 members, participated in the digital vote. Golan leads the list, followed by Naama Lazimi, Gilad Kariv, and Efrat Rayten, with other members filling subsequent positions.

Prior to the primaries, it was established that Meretz representatives would receive three reserved spots at positions 6, 8, and 14 on the list. Golan's decision specifically concerns additional reserved spots from his side, which means Tsangoker will not be included on the Democrats' list. Einav Tsangoker is the mother of former captive Matan Tsangoker and has remained active in public life since his release, recently speaking at a rally marking 1,000 days since the war at the Hostages Square.

The party's list was arranged using a zipper system alternating between men and women. Golan's announcement closes the possibility of further reserved placements for Tsangoker, clarifying the final composition of the Democrats' candidates for the upcoming elections.
