Israeli Police Arrest Two Suspects in Separate Vehicle Theft Cases from Ashdod, Ashkelon to Qalqilya

Israeli police recently arrested two suspects in separate investigations involving vehicle thefts in the Lachish region, following intelligence and operational efforts by the Ashkelon and Ashdod police stations. The arrests come amid a reported decline in vehicle thefts in the southern district, alongside an increase in case resolutions.

In the first case, Ashkelon police opened an investigation after a Kia Sportage was stolen from the city. Focused detective work led to the identification and arrest of the main suspect, a resident of Shuafat, who was apprehended while driving near the Shorak interchange on Highway 3 and taken in for questioning.

Simultaneously, Ashdod police investigated another vehicle theft from their city. The stolen vehicle was later found abandoned near Modiin. Investigators traced the suspect, an illegal resident, who was arrested over the weekend at a checkpoint in Qalqilya, also near Highway 3.

Police emphasized that recent efforts have resulted in fewer vehicle thefts and higher clearance rates in the southern district. Ronen Amar, commander of the Ashdod station, praised the swift, professional, and determined police work that combined technological, intelligence, and field operations to locate and arrest the suspects. He affirmed the police's ongoing commitment to combating property crimes and vehicle thefts to ensure public safety and protect property.
