Former Player Sean Daniel Joins Maccabi Tel Aviv as Assistant to Sporting Director Claudio Coldebella

Maccabi Tel Aviv announced on August 10, 2026, the surprising appointment of Sean Daniel as assistant to the club's sporting director, Claudio Coldebella. Sean Daniel, son of former player and coach Moti Daniel, began his basketball career in Hapoel Holon’s youth teams and later won a double championship with Maccabi Tel Aviv's youth squad. He played six years in Israel’s top basketball league from 2009 to 2015 for teams including Hapoel Holon, Maccabi Ashdod, and Ironi Ramat Gan.

After retiring as a player, Daniel held various managerial and professional roles at the "Real Player" organization from 2017 to 2023. Since then, he has co-managed Maccabi Tel Aviv Shoham alongside Alon Ben Zaken. Club chairman Shimon Mizrahi praised Daniel’s basketball heritage and his role in strengthening ties between the senior team and youth development.

Sporting director Claudio Coldebella welcomed Daniel’s appointment, highlighting his unique profile as both a former player and basketball manager. Coldebella emphasized Daniel’s comprehensive understanding of Israeli basketball, from youth development to professional play, and his alignment with the club’s modern vision for player development and organizational growth. He expressed confidence that Daniel’s values and experience will support his role as general manager and help advance the club’s long-term sporting vision.

Coldebella also noted that Daniel’s appointment will enhance coordination between Maccabi’s youth department and senior team, creating clearer pathways for young talents to reach the highest levels.
