Pro-Palestinian Group Plans Protest at Vienna Stadium Ahead of Beitar Jerusalem Match

A pro-Palestinian organization in Vienna has called for a demonstration outside the Generali Arena during Beitar Jerusalem's upcoming UEFA Conference League qualifier against Austria Vienna. The match, scheduled for Thursday, August 13, 2026, is the second leg of the third qualifying round. Around 1,000 Beitar Jerusalem fans are expected to attend, with many spreading out across Vienna, Budapest, and Bratislava.

The activists urge supporters to bring Palestinian flags and signs, accusing Beitar Jerusalem fans of racism and violent behavior, particularly towards those perceived as Arabs. The group stated that UEFA is bringing a club whose fans repeatedly attract attention for violent attacks, and they will not allow such actions to go unanswered in Vienna.

This call for protest follows a history of tensions involving Israeli football fans abroad. Notably, in November 2024, Maccabi Tel Aviv supporters were violently attacked by pro-Palestinian groups in Amsterdam after a Europa League match against Ajax. The current demonstration aims to highlight Vienna's support for Palestine and to provoke against Beitar Jerusalem's supporters during the match.

Beitar Jerusalem lost the first leg 2-1 despite being the better team, increasing the stakes for the upcoming game in Vienna. The protest is expected to add a politically charged atmosphere to the sporting event.
