Satmar Rebbe Defends NYC Mayor Medadani Amid Jewish Community Protests

During the central tish commemorating his uncle, the 'Vayoel Moshe' author, the Satmar Rebbe sharply criticized protests by segments of the Jewish community against New York City's Muslim Mayor, Zohran Medadani. The Rebbe condemned these demonstrations as "provocation of the nations," emphasizing that such behavior contradicts Torah principles during exile. He referenced the prophet Jeremiah's call to seek the peace of the city where Jews live in exile, urging the community to accept the decrees of exile with restraint.

The remarks came amid escalating tensions and widespread protests by many in the Jewish community against Medadani, who has been accused of anti-Israel rhetoric and actions. These include calling Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu a "war criminal," labeling IDF actions as "genocide," and forming a judicial advisory committee without Jewish representation.
