Israeli Police Arrest 19-Year-Old After Vehicle Theft Attempt and Police Chase in Bnei Brak
On July 31, Israeli police arrested a 19-year-old suspect in Bnei Brak after a series of attempted vehicle thefts and a dangerous police chase. The suspect was initially reported driving a stolen car near Jerusalem. When police from the Harel station spotted him, he fled at high speed, ramming a police vehicle in the process. A female officer was injured and hospitalized, and the police car sustained heavy damage.
After the stolen vehicle was immobilized, the suspect exited and tried to escape on foot. Police fired shots to apprehend him, causing injuries, but he continued to flee. Following a search, officers found him inside a second vehicle he was attempting to steal to continue his escape. He was arrested on the spot.
Investigations revealed that the suspect had attempted to steal three different vehicles that day. His detention was extended multiple times, and on Sunday, the Jerusalem District Police Prosecution filed formal charges against him for the incidents.
