IDF Investigates Kite From Gaza Found in Israeli Border Area, Council Head Warns of Escalation
A kite originating from the Gaza Strip was discovered over the weekend near the moshav Shuva in the Sha'ar HaNegev Regional Council area. Tamir Aidan, head of the Sha'ar HaNegev Regional Council, confirmed the kite came from Gaza and stated it was found to be without any explosive device. The IDF spokesperson said the circumstances of the incident are currently under investigation.
Aidan strongly condemned the incident, calling the mere crossing of an aerial device from Gaza into Israeli territory a serious breach and a "red line," even if it carried no explosives. He expressed concern that such events could become routine or escalate into more severe threats, including the use of drones or other means carrying explosives.
The council head urged a clear Israeli response, rejecting any gradual return to previous security realities or tolerance of ongoing low-level incidents. He emphasized that any future negotiations regarding Gaza must prioritize the security of border residents, calling for Hamas's disarmament, demilitarization of the Gaza Strip, and stable security guarantees for the local population.
