Serbia Launches Joint Drone Manufacturing Project with Israel to Boost Military Industry

Serbia is accelerating its drone development efforts through a new joint venture with Israel, announced by Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić. The project aims to establish a drone manufacturing plant expected to open as early as September 2026. This initiative is part of Serbia's broader strategy to build an independent military industry and reduce reliance on foreign arms imports.

President Vučić emphasized the choice of Israel as a partner despite Ukraine's significant drone production capabilities, stating, "Ukraine has enormous drone production capacity, but we will do it with Israel." The collaboration reflects Serbia's ongoing investments in local weapons development alongside maintaining military procurement and security ties with various Eastern and Western partners.

If the factory opens on schedule, it will transform the earlier announced cooperation into a tangible industrial project, granting Serbia new domestic capabilities in drone technology, a critical area for modern militaries worldwide. This move aligns with Serbia's efforts to strengthen its defense sector amid regional and global security challenges.
