Harel Advances to High Jump Final at U20 World Athletics Championships
At the World Athletics U20 Championships in Oregon, USA, Israeli high jumper Jayden Harel qualified for the final after clearing 2.14 meters in the qualifying round, finishing ninth overall. The final will take place between Saturday and Sunday, where Harel will compete against 12 other athletes. His season best is 2.18 meters, achieved in January at the U20 US Championships held at the same stadium.
In the 110-meter hurdles, Israeli athlete Liam Akwa finished 31st overall with a time of 13.79 seconds, narrowly missing the semifinals cutoff by two hundredths of a second, as only the top 27 advanced. Meanwhile, in the 400-meter hurdles, Gal Netanel and Hila Versano ran times of 1:00.80 and 1:00.87 respectively, which were insufficient to reach the semifinals. Both athletes have personal bests under one minute, with Versano at 59.53 seconds and Netanel at 59.32 seconds.
