Harel Advances to High Jump Final at U20 World Athletics Championships, Akwa Exits in 110m Hurdles
At the World Athletics U20 Championships in Oregon, United States, Israeli high jumper Jayden Harel qualified for the final after clearing 2.14 meters in the qualifying round, finishing ninth overall. The final, featuring Harel and 12 other competitors, is scheduled between Saturday and Sunday. Harel's season best is 2.18 meters, achieved in January at the U20 US Championships held at the same stadium.
In the 110-meter hurdles qualifying round, Israeli athlete Liam Akwa finished 31st overall with a time of 13.79 seconds, narrowly missing his personal best by 0.02 seconds. Despite a strong performance, Akwa did not advance to the semifinals, which included the 27 fastest runners.
Meanwhile, in the 400-meter hurdles qualifiers, Israeli athletes Gal Netanel and Hila Versano recorded times of 1:00.80 and 1:00.87 minutes respectively. Both failed to advance to the semifinals, falling short of their personal bests under one minute, 59.32 seconds for Netanel and 59.53 seconds for Versano.
