Israeli Police Officer Investigated in 'The Shadow' Case Amid Past Controversies

Menashe Menzur, a police officer in the Tel Aviv district responsible for rapid response units, is under investigation in the 'The Shadow' case. He is suspected of allegedly promoting the interests of 'The Shadow' in a leisure complex with which he is connected. Menzur has previously attracted media attention due to an incident at Bimah Square, where he was recorded apparently encouraging right-wing activist Roy Star to file a complaint after a protester was detained. This incident reached the Supreme Court, where Chief Justice Isaac Amit criticized Menzur's conduct, stating that "Ben Gvir backs a police officer who incites false complaints," referring to Menzur's urging to "file a complaint" despite the detainee allegedly doing nothing wrong.

Menzur's lawyers, Diana Shumski and Moshe Alon, defended him, asserting he is a veteran, professional, and highly respected officer who acted impeccably. They denied all allegations and highlighted that Menzur has returned to duty without restrictions. Recently, Police Commissioner Major General Danny Levi dismissed Eliasi, an associate of National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir, from his position as commander of the Tel Aviv rapid response unit following an investigation revealing he boasted about using police connections to prevent the closure of a leisure complex he partly owns.

After Eliasi's police officer investigation concluded, he was released under conditions barring him from police facilities and contact with involved parties for ten days. The Police Investigations Department stated the investigation is ongoing. According to reports in Haaretz, the rapper used his police connections to benefit a Tel Aviv leisure complex, including preventing the closure of the John Doe club after a violent incident. Additionally, Eliasi's weapon was confiscated.
